3.2 National drug strategies and harm reduction in prison in the

member-countries of the sub-regional project on harm reduction

(Session 1)

 

Presentations: Mr Jiri Richter, Mr Jan Sochurek (Czech

Republic):"Czech Government Policy - Drug Strategy and Programme. Overview

of Measures in the Czech Prison Service". Ms Frusina Dimitrova (Macedonia):

"A brief outline of the treatments for prisoners - drug addicts in the

prisons of the Republic of Macedonia". Mr Milan Krek, National Drug Demand

Reduction Co-ordinator (Slovenia): "National strategy on drug demand

reduction in Slovenia".

Jan Sochurek presented the national approach of the Czech Republic

to drug use by prisoners and made an overview of the historic development

of the problem of drug use in his country. He also outlined measures

against drug use which have been undertaken by his country in the fields of

drug demand reduction, primary and secondary prevention. Jiri Richter

presented National Strategy of Czech Republic for Combat against Drugs for

the period 1998- 2000.

Frosina Dimitrova made presentation of the treatment activities aimed

at protection of health of drug users in prisons in the Republic of

Macedonia. She also presented some legal provisions and measures, which

promote protection of health of, imprisoned drug users and presented

statistical data on incarcerated drug users in Macedonia.

Milan Krek presented HR activities in prisons in Slovenia and his

country's strategy for the prevention of drug abuse on national and

communal level.
